    Description

The Exaco ECO 2000-NP Kitchen Compost Pail is a solid choice for anyone looking to manage kitchen scraps efficiently. With a capacity of 2.4 gallons, it strikes a good balance between size and usability, making it perfect for individuals or small families. The green finish adds a nice touch, allowing it to blend in with various kitchen decors.

One of the standout features is the convenient handle, which makes it easy to transport waste to your outdoor compost bin. The carbon filter does a commendable job of minimizing odors, which is essential for kitchen use. Many users have noted that they can keep it indoors without worrying about unpleasant smells, as long as the filter is in place.

However, there are some concerns regarding the durability of certain components. Some users have reported issues with the lid breaking or warping over time, as well as the filter holder detaching too easily. While the overall structure feels sturdy, these minor flaws can be frustrating, especially for a product at this price point.

Cleaning can be a bit of a chore, especially if waste sits for too long, so regular maintenance is necessary to keep it fresh. A few users have suggested that replacing the filter more frequently than the recommended interval may be beneficial, depending on how often you use the pail.

In summary, the Exaco ECO 2000-NP Kitchen Compost Pail is a practical and aesthetically pleasing option for composting kitchen waste. Just keep in mind the potential issues with certain components and be prepared to put in a little extra effort for cleaning and maintenance.

My main problem with this bin is that the there are detachable pieces that come off too easily. There is a small piece on each side that “secures” the handle to the container that keep falling off, making the handle useless unless you keep reattaching it each time. Also, my kids empty the compost and the top filter holder fell off and disappeared when they were emptying. You cannot buy the little square filter holder on its own, so we bought a whole new replacement bin and it happened a second time. I know the kids need to be more careful, but it really shouldn’t come off that easily and since it does, you should be able to buy just those little pieces. It’s a higher-priced bin compared to others out there, and I don’t think this bin is worth the money.

Sturdy but a bit too tall. But it does the job.

This bin would be perfect if the removable housing for the carbon filter stayed in place. It is “secured” by little indent clips on the lid that are worthless. Every time the top is opened it falls off, so the product photo is accurate, a bin with a separate filter that is not attached!

I will make a strap and secure it, but as is I would not recommend it. Otherwise it good, nice size and easy to clean.

The lid broke (I was never gentle with it) after about ten years and I bought another. I think it says a lot if you aren’t mad at a product when it fails because you think it worked well. It is very hard to clean and gets really gross if you don’t constantly empty it and it sits a while, so I am planning to wash this one more thoroughly and more often. The vent attachment does fall off occasionally and I have had to dig through my compost bin a few times looking for it. I replace the mesh occasionally with mesh I have for other things, definitely not every three months. I never smell the thing. The mesh is what keeps the bugs out, which is what I really care about. It fills up fast, but it’s better than a gallon or going to the bin every time I prepare a vegetable. It’s very sturdy, but it did eventually break at the hinge. It’s expensive for a plastic bucket, but it makes composting easier.

I ordered this to carry compost from my condo to the compost bin at the back of the building. I love the handle and there is a light latch to be sure the lid stays closed if it gets knocked over. There is a filter in the lid and so far, odors have not escaped. However, during summer months I’ll keep it on the covered front balcony rather than the kitchen area. I use a fully biodegradable bag in the bucket but there is always some liquid that seeps through to the bottom. I just hold it upside down over the compost and then bring it in to rinse and wipe with an alcohol wipe after it dries. .

Wow, $25 for a small plastic bucket. Read that back out loud before purchasing. We had one of these for many years and had to replace recently from a crack from age and use, but if you have the filter in, it has no smell at all! That’s the job, keep the rotting compost smell out of the house, which is does great. We compost almost everything. We empty this bucket in a large compost bin out in the garden. Most of the time I when dump it out, it has the most vile smell imaginable which makes you gag. Somehow it keeps it from not smelling in the house. The little carbon filters seem to last a few years.

    8. Lisa

Great for a single person. The filter keeps the smell.

This is the best compost bin ever for kitchen use if you use a lot of vegetables in your diet. It holds a lot the lid closes tightly and there’s no odor and the bags that you can order for it fit perfectly I would highly recommend this bin.

Good little container for holding scraps, the filter could be better but owe well..

    11. Simon Glen

The product is very fragile and the carbon filter is useless as it is not sealed properly

    12. Claudine

Un contenant pour ramasser les restes de nourriture en vue d’un compostage. Il va bien avec des sacs compostables de 10 litres.

    13. Ryan

It’s a fancy green bucket, it works like a plastic green bucket should. The lid has “warped” a tad but it’s still a lid. All in all very pleased.
