I am eager to get my compost pile started. The bin arrived today and the sides were simple to assemble. Everything was neatly packaged. The hardest part for me was getting the lid to pop into place the holes where the peg click into place where not cut well so i had to use a lot of force to get things in place.

I thought stakes were given with it as it indicated you could use stakes with it. However, I was disappointed to find out for 77.00 + dollars that no stakes came with it.

So far it looks like it will work well for my setup. Will possibly update again after I have some time with it.

These are pretty nice compost bins that are easy to assemble and hold a lot of material. The sides all snap together smoothly. The lid is pushed down into four holding points on the top of the back panel, and the small compost door on the front just slides right down into place. If you have trouble getting the lid fastened, place the outer two pins in their slots, then center the middle two pins and push down hard and they should snap in.

The individual plastic pieces may not seem that sturdy while you’re removing them from the box and assembling them, but the finished product seems very stable. The lid functions well and snaps down in place on the front edge so you don’t have to worry about it flying off during a wind storm. There are holes near the bottom where you could stake this into the ground if you wanted to, but I’m not sure it’s necessary if you fill it up at least halfway.

I’d also recommend purchasing a compost aeration tool (search Mr. Compost Tool on Amazon) as a handy accessory for a vertical compost bin like this. It makes turning the compost in there an easy chore. It’s a simple design (and a little pricey), but works excellent.

This product is very lightweight. I was able to put it together without tools, but it required some muscle and it easily comes apart. My package did not include any kind of bottom nor anything that would create trays or layers inside. So, anything seems to knock it over: wind, animals, people. When it is knocked over, whatever I put inside is then lying on the ground uncovered. So, I am questioning if this plastic box is necessary. I might as well have made a compost pile as I had done in a larger, more wooded property I once lived on. If I got a kit with pieces to make a bottom or inside trays missing, I wish someone would send me what was missing.

This is a well designed product. It snaps together – no need for hardware at all. The panels may seem lightweight, but once joined they are plenty sturdy. The only difficulty I had was attaching the top: it required some force, but that only added 10 minutes. Although a large size, I could carry it out to the garden myself. Very happy with my purchase.

Shipped quickly, went together with no issues and is pretty much what I expected from their pictures and details. Very content with it.

This is kind of wobbly but once it’s filled, it seems to be ok. I like it.

    10. Daniel

Be warned – this composter has no floor! It is a free-standing box without a base, and so the composting liquid is going to run out and spread all over whatever you put it on. There is no way to seal it. A pity as with a sealed-base it would be perfect.

We tried doing composting with pallets. It kind of fell apart but we did have some nice soil in the bottom. This came recommended by someone who is using it. It holds together (we put some rocks around it to secure from wind) and is so easy to use. Very excited to see the compost hopefully next year!

A nice compost bin for the price. Simple and quick assembly. No tools are required. Effective in composting organic matter.

I used a spinning composter for a while and IMO this basic design (just a plastic box that is open on the bottom) is far better for most folks. The spinners take over an hour of (frustrating) time to assemble. You can put this together in 5 minutes without looking at the instructions. With the spinners, I found it almost impossible to keep the compost dry enough and you really have to search out sources of brown (leaves, cardboard, etc.). With this one? Man, I just dump food scraps in there and forget about it. It’s good to add browns, but if you don’t, it’s still OK to be honest. Looks-wise you can just kinda hide it ninja style in the back of your yard and it’s just (literally) a black box so pretty unobtrusive. It is for sure flimsy but as far as I can tell doesn’t really harm the functionality. The lid sorta clicks shut but I think the odds are about 99% that eventually the plastic tabs break and then I’ll just put a brick or something on top, so not a big deal but if you really want something more durable and better looking just make your own compost box out of wood probably.
