  1. This bin is great, unlike some of the reviewers here. I have zero complaints about this compost bin, for which reason I am giving it five stars, because that’s how Amazon reviews work. However, based a couple of reviews that I’m reading now, I’m guessing that the main reason I’m pleased with this bin (apart from the fact that it performs its intended function perfectly well) is that I actually understand what a compost bin is and what composting involves. Here are some pointers, in case you are new to this:1. A compost bin is basically just a pot with a lid on it. If you are going to order this thing and then find yourself shocked when you receive what is basically just a pot with a lid on it in the mail (despite the numerous images on this page that clearly show what is basically a pot with a lid on it), then please just go buy a pot and save yourself the trouble of posting a really stupid review on Amazon that blames the product for the fact that you didn’t realize what a compost bin was.2. Composting involves taking your food scraps that would *otherwise be trash* and keeping them in a bucket (or a pot with a lid on it) in your kitchen. For this reason, it will *get dirty*, just like the rest of the items in your kitchen that come in contact with food. You will often have to *wipe it down* to remove the residue of whatever you put in it, *just like everything else in your kitchen*. Don’t let the term “compost bin” fool you into thinking that this product has the magical ability to self-clean. Remember that this is basically just a pot with a lid on it.3. Here’s the thing about food scraps: they break down over time. They even break down a bit over the course of a few days. Another word for this breakdown process is “rotting”. THIS IS WHY WE COMPOST THEM. If you leave your compost sitting on your counter for a week at a time, *it will start to smell*. DO NOT BLAME THE BIN – get off your lazy rump and go empty the dang thing. Would you keep your trash for a week if it was full of rotting food? NO. Honestly, a bin that will hold a week’s worth of scraps isn’t a good thing. A compost bin is not a panacea for all compost-related unpleasantness. If you don’t want your food scraps smelling on your countertop, but you also refuse to walk allllll the way to your compost bin more than once a week, then maybe composting isn’t for you. Which is fine, just don’t leave a three star review on Amazon once you figure that out.-Okay, done snarking. Here’s what I like about this bin:*It looks good on the countertop*It has a carrying handle, unlike your average pot with a lid on it*It is well-proportioned – tall enough to hold a good amount of stuff without having a huge footprint on the countertop, but not so tall that it tips over*I’ve had little to no problem with fruit flies, presumably because I have been careful to only remove the lid when I am putting stuff in the bin*It cleans easily*It is durable and unbreakableBasically, it does everything a compost bin should do, assuming you do not have ridiculous, uninformed, and mutually-incompatible expectations for how it will function.

  2. Excellent Compost Bin. Awe man do I love this compost bin. After years of limping along with a ceramic compost container with a lid that did not fit very well, I decided it was time to upgrade. So I bought a stainless steel compost bin off of amazon and had my dreams shattered by poor build quality. But do not despair. You have found the Brabantia Compost Bin (or whatever you want to use it for). At first I though the lid was going to be annoying. It totally detaches from the container. Well, I was wrong. It is great to just leave the lid in the sink, run out to the compost pile and dump my food waste, and then come back in with the empty container. The whole assembly fits together well which keeps any fouls smells in. It is super easy to clean, and very light (so my kids have no trouble taking out the compost). The capacity is about perfect and it fits so nicely on my counter next to my sink… and the color makes it almost disappear. It seems stupid to be so stoked with a compost bin, but this one is great.

  3. Great for countertop compost. This is what I spent HOURS looking for. A basic lidded container that would work well with a bag and not be hideously ugly on my kitchen counter. Bonus that it’s not made of metal (won’t rust) or ceramic (won’t break if I drop it). I used 2.6 gal compostable bags instead of the “Type S”–they are a touch big, but I think that will be better in the long run (make them easier to twist closed). I can still hide the bag edge by carefully arranging it under the lid’s lip. I’m guessing odor won’t be much of an issue because I won’t be composting any meat products or by-products (I live in an apartment and my local farmer’s market doesn’t accept them). If service offerings change, though, I’ll just freeze a bag if I put something yucky in it.

  4. Simplest, fastest composter ever with long durability. Get this one, you won’t regret it. This was my 4th year using one of these composters for my backyard composting (leaves, grass clippings, garden waste, kitchen scraps). It does an awesome job- big enough capacity that there’s enough biomass to keep the breakdown happening year round, you can configure the size easily and on the fly, there’s easy access to the pile over the edge for turning, etc. The compost comes out consistent- an issue I’ve had with every other composting system I’ve ever tried, this one has the best outcome… the mesh design and upright orientation of this composter allows the right amount of air and water to penetrate the pile, so as long as you turn it with regular frequency, the materials break down evenly and quickly. Easiest composting ever!I’ve tried other types of systems over my years of gardening and permaculture work- those smaller rotating bins or 55gal (or smaller) converted barrels don’t have enough capacity to fuel the bio-reactions, and then they get gross FAST, not to mention the issue of limited accessibility to the material through tiny doors; the on-the-ground 3-sided 3-bin system doesn’t allow enough air to penetrate the pile and takes up a lot of space; random big piles in your yard blow around and and make a mess, etc. This composter solves all those problems, is cheap, simple, and durable.I’ve made it this far in the 4 years using just one of these composters- I actively load up materials in batches, then it composts down; I add more material and that composts down; then turn regularly between big additions to the bin when the temperature of the pile drops… after a few months I take off the shell and start a new pile and let the other one rest/finish off until it’s ready to be used- the resting pile holds it’s shape neatly and I’ve never had any issues of collapse or blow-away. I increased my garden capacity this year, and so now I’m ready to pick up my second composter to get a second system going for the fall leaf season.I wanted to note on the durability, since this is a plastic product and sits in the sun. I keep my composter outside year round in the intense Colorado sun, and have seen NO issues- no ripping, no fading, no weakening, etc. and it doesn’t break down in the elements (110F to -20F temps, rain, snow, large hail, squirrels, etc). I don’t cover it nor protect it in any way…. it’s just bomb-proof. Can’t say enough good things. If you have a big yard with grass, and trees that drop lots of leaves (bag them in the fall to use the rest of the year), and a garden (or neighbors!) that could really use all of that rich organic material (for free!), you MUST be composting… and this is your simplest, cheapest, and easiest solution out there.Last note- because the diameter/ capacity of this pile is large if you have it all the way expanded out, I found it helpful to use a long stem (20 inches or more) compost pile thermometer to give me an idea of the internal state of the pile, so I know when to turn it. One like this (the one I use is no longer available on Amazon): https://www.amazon.com/Thermometer-Greenco-Stainless-Fahrenheit-Temperature/dp/B01BMX3SYI/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=298TAGUIEH72H&keywords=compost+thermometer+36+inch+stem&qid=1571264669&sprefix=compost+thermometeraps168&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzUVlGUEU3VjVJQ0Q5JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTc1MzM0NzVJOENMREdDQjNKJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAwODY4MjIyQ0dKRkhCRU8zS0NJJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

  5. Works great looks modern and sharp. It’s really simple little box. It’s got to live that hinges up and down for opening. The lid is attached to a frame which attaches to the bucket. Purpose of my buying it is to just put my coffee grounds in. I’m a big coffee drinker.I put my coffee beans and my espresso beans one done in it. It’s about a month’s worth of I’m guessing of used coffee grounds. When it gets full I just tap it out into the yard. I hate having coffee grounds in my garbage can. I don’t use plastic bags It’s just bad for the environment. Coffee grounds make a mess in your garbage can. But anyways for what I’m using it I would recommend it. It’s small enough to keep on your countertop looks nice modern and clean.

  6. What a Fantastic Bucket. I ordered this because it looked like the best compost bucket for my needs, in the right size. Little did I know that it would exceed my expectations by a lot. This bucket is extremely well-made and well-thought out. The lid is 2 part (attached) so that you can lift the lip with your finger and drop something in, using one hand. You then can lift the entire 2 part lid off the bottom for dumping. The bail (handle) is well made and sturdily attached. The unit is very easy to clean. We aren’t using the bracket, we keep ours on the counter. But the bracket design is also outstanding. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to store compost, before dumping it in their compost heap or barrel.

  7. Dimensions are in liters and centimeters. This is a beautiful and sturdy little bin. I neglected to notice the dimensions as centimeters (not inches) and was stunned when it arrived — this is all my bad, but just to advise you to double check what you size you need. Color is saturated and the finish is matte. A very classy little bin for kitchen scraps! I went ahead and ordered the 16 liter, I liked the little one so much!

  8. Buy it. We have this huge area in the back of our garage where all the leaves get blown. They do create nice leaf mulch on their own. But we need to find a better way to contain them so that we can put several raised beds there. I hate the idea of compost Tumblr‘s because it sounds like a wet and soggy mess but you’re gonna have to come back and interact with all the time. At one point I had a compost area built out of old pallets but eventually parts of it started to rot. I love the concept of this product and went ahead and purchased it because it sounds like something very simple, effective, and durable. The plastic is not going to rot out as far as I can see. It came in a small enough box. It was easy to carry to the back of the yard and wrangle myself. The only additional thing I think you’re going to need other than what comes in a package… Go ahead and take the time to get a few stakes and a mallet. I used a rubber mallet and 4 bamboo stakes that I already had. You could use more or less depending upon how sturdy you want it or if you’re trying to make a specific shape or something. After we got it about half full we pulled out the stakes because we needed them on our tomatoes and it seems to be sitting up just fine now. I like the general concept that you can attach several of these together. It’s basically stacks the leaf blowing area that we had before and condenses the floor print profile of everything. So instead of using 10‘ x 10‘ just laying on the ground, they can compactly fit in a much smaller space even up against the fence or something. This keeps the dogs from running through it or defecating on it. I can see how if I had a leaf mulcher or if I ran over them with a mower it we can dance even more. We might try that in the fall. In the meantime I expect we will probably buy a second one of these this fall while the first then it’s still compacting. We purchased the gold or tope color, whatever they call it. I love that they offered that instead of just the standard black and green. It kind of blends in with our fence color. I would love to see all of my neighbors go to this method instead of bagging their leaves and throwing them out at the curb. But I think in order For it to become a more commonly purchase product, the price is going to have to drop. And honestly now that I see how it works and what it’s made of… I think it’s worth the money because there’s not a comparable product out there competing but it’s also kinda high priced for how simple it is. The only grade that I have is my continued gripe with elitist home maintenance and gardening… We should be encouraging everyone to garden… But I keep seeing these expensive products out on the market insisting that people need to spend $200 for a worm bin or $100 for this other compost item. This is one of the lower price ones and even still I think it should be lower for what it is.

  9. So excited to put this to use. This is my first foray into composting, and I’m really excited to get started. I like the tumbling, dual chamber design of this model, and I think the size will be perfect for my household. When I first opened the box, I thought the individual plastic pieces seemed a bit flimsy, but by the time I had it fully assembled I was very pleased with the finished product. All pieces fit together seamlessly, and the unit has a nice balance between being sturdy but also lightweight. It also looks nice, for now (though months of sitting in my backyard might make the plastic fade or warp, though I don’t really need it to be pretty, I need it to do its job).I see mixed reviews regarding assembly. I found it very easy to assemble, but if you are struggling or worried, here are a few notes… (1) Some of the small nut and bolt sets require you to hold the nuts in a very limited amount of finger space. I have small fingers so this wasn’t a problem for me, but if you are having a hard time I would recommend having a small socket wrench available. (2) At first glance, it seems like the middle divider should fit snuggly against the outer panels, but if you pay attention to line up the arrows, you will see that it deliberately leaves a small triangular gap at each panel. I believe this feature must allow for better air flow through the unit. Once you accept that this is part of the design, the divider panel is easy to place and work around. (3) The first panel you put into place is the one with doors, and then you place the remaining seven identical panels. I suggest working around the barrel in one direction, so the very last panel you place is next to the door panel. If you work in both directions, the last panel you place will be on the opposite side of the barrel from the doors, making it very difficult to place the last bolts without the help of a second person to hold the nuts from the inside. (Unless you have very long arms with more joints than the average human being.) (4) There are two long bolts used to attach the cross bar to the frame on the very last step. These bolts are slightly larger around and have matching nuts that are slightly larger as well (though they look the same at first glance). For some reason, these nuts are just mixed loosely in with all the smaller ones, so when you come across them and they don’t fit the smaller bolts, set them aside for the final step. The set comes with a small screwdriver which I found adequate enough for the small bolts, but I used a set of pliers to hold the nuts for these larger bolts because I was having trouble getting them to secure by hand.As a final note, I noticed that one of the two sliding doors has a small embossed plus sign on it. I think the intent is to use this door to designate which side of the composter you are actively adding material to, since you should alternate sides every six weeks or so. When the six week period is up, you would simply slide both doors out and swap their positions. I think this is a neat feature, but the plus sign doesn’t really stand out much, so I painted mine with some green enamel paint to make it more obvious.Obviously, it will take several months of practical use to really get an idea of how well this thing will work. But I’m very excited to try it out!

  10. Sleek and Efficient Composting Solution. The media could not be loaded. I recently introduced this stylish compost bin to my kitchen countertop, and I must say, it’s been a revelation. No longer do I have to deal with the inconvenience of frequent trips to the outdoor compost pile every time I chop vegetables or brew coffee. This compact 1.3-gallon bucket fits perfectly in my kitchen, blending in with the appliances while offering an easy and odor-free way to collect organic waste. The inclusion of a charcoal filter was a genius touch. It effectively traps and neutralizes odors, which was a major concern of mine before making the purchase. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my kitchen remains fresh, without the faintest hint of compost smell. Plus, it came with a spare filter, ensuring I’m set for many months of use before needing a replacement. Its silver finish gives it a modern look that compliments my kitchen decor beautifully, proving that compost bins can be both functional and fashionable. The lid fits snugly, yet it’s easy to lift off when adding scraps or emptying the bin, making it a hassle-free addition to my daily routine. This compost bin has not only made composting more convenient but has also encouraged me to be more mindful of my waste, knowing that my scraps are going towards a good cause. Five stars for this efficient, stylish, and odor-free solution to kitchen composting!

  12. Excellent solution for keeping your kitchen clean and smelling fresh. Super easy to use and clean. The hanger made a lot of counter space compared to our old bin. Keeps smells completely inside. Sealed, prevents gnats and fruit flies. This compost bin was a huge upgrade over the last 3 buckets we have had.I use the compostable bags and clean up is a breeze.Seems durable enough for what it is. Doesn’t feel flimsy. I was a little skeptical of the lid at first, but I love the double action. You can hold the lid open or open it the other way and it stays open. Easy to peel carrots and potatoes directly into the bin.The color is perfect for my kitchen, other bins we have had were either black, which spotlights stains and liquids, or bright colors. This bin is a perfect neutral color. All in all, a perfect kitchen bin!

  13. Good Composter. Tough to put together. Composter works great now that it it put together. The assembly was difficult, but not impossible. Just very tedious with all of the screws and nuts. It is very sturdy once assembled and hold up to a full load of compost.

  14. Good, but not great. First the goods. It was relatively easy to assemble, my thumbs are now numb from holding the what seemed like 80 bolts while i screwed them together. Seems sturdy, turns easy, and seems easy to use. The bads. The air holes are large enough for stuff to fall out, like soy beans were falling out that i put in there after assembly. The doors are way too small which makes placing items into it a chore and I’d assume getting compost out will be a chore as well. And lastly, I seriously dispute the legitimacy of its 43 gallon capacity claim. I have 50 gallon fish tanks and have seen 55 gallon barrels and this is smaller than half of one of those. If I were to guess, the capacity is more closer to 20-30 gallons. This seems tiny for 43!!!

  15. Pain to assemble, easy to use. While I do like this product and find it easy to use, like many other reviewers, this thing was a bit of a nightmare to assemble. It took 3 of us about an hour and a half to figure it out. The main issue we found was the bolts that held everything together. They were a bit difficult to hold onto and stay tight. However, once assembled, we have found this composter to be quite easy to turn and fill and it has stayed solid through some nasty storms.I would recommend this product but, be forewarned, assembly may be rough.

  16. It works! Assembly is a bit challenging. Bought this as a first compost tumbler to see if they work. The smaller size and the divided tumbler were pluses for me. There are a lot of parts and many, many screws, washers and nuts but the assembly is straight forward. Have been slowly filling the tumbler with coffee grounds and shredded paper (junk mail) with some water. Have also been giving it a few turns whenever I get close. The contents are looking a bit more like healthy dirt every week.

  17. Great composter. We have used this bin for 18 months hanging inside the under-sink cabinet door. Works like s charm! Easy to to access, easy to clean. One design complaint to the manufacturer: the four support tabs inside the lower part of the bin can poke holes in full compost bags. If they were tapered at the top, it would prevent this.

  18. Great product, nothing bad to say. This is a wonderful problem, great value. It’s really easy to put together.. I don’t know why there were so many 1 star reviews saying it was complicated and confusing and hard.. it was totally straightforward and super super easy (especially with 2 people). I will say that the instructions aren’t very descriptive and not real helpful but.. anybody with at least 2 brain cells can figure it out pretty easy, not much room for error. Just go over the instructions real quick to get an idea and you’ll get the picture. With it put together it looks great, super easy to spin when it’s full of stuff. Put it over dirt or grass because it does leak a tiny bit (especially if you’re putting a lot of water heavy kitchen scraps it in). Just be sure to even it out with dry yard scraps and it’s not that big of a deal. Anyways overall great product, will be getting another one if needed.

  20. Awesome Value, Almost Perfect. Let me tell you about the Geobin compost bin – it’s a real gem for anyone looking to get into composting without breaking the bank.First off, this thing is a steal. It’s one of the cheapest options out there, which is great if you’re just dipping your toes into the composting world or if you’re trying to be a bit more eco-friendly on a budget.Setting it up? A piece of cake. Even if you’ve never composted before, you’ll have this up and running in no time. It comes with these nifty interlocking keys that let you adjust the size to fit your needs.Speaking of size, this bin is like Mary Poppins’ bag – it holds way more than you’d think! We’re talking up to 246 gallons. Whether you’ve got a tiny city garden or a sprawling suburban yard, the Geobin’s got you covered. One thing I really love is how well it breathes. It’s got these clever little holes all over that keep the air flowing. Trust me, your neighbors will thank you – no stinky compost here! Now, let’s talk durability. This isn’t some flimsy plastic that’ll fall apart after one season. The Geobin is made of tough stuff that can handle whatever Mother Nature throws at it. You’ll be using this for years to come.Is it perfect? Well, not quite. It could use a few more clips to keep everything in place, especially when you’re dealing with a full load. But honestly, that’s a small gripe for an otherwise fantastic product. All in all, if you’re looking to start composting or upgrade your current setup, the Geobin is a solid choice. It’s easy to use, built to last, and won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Happy composting!

  21. Perfect for my urban garden. All the vegetable scraps no longer go to the trash but in the tumbler.I put it on my side terrace (second floor apartment). I first poured in some soil and then began adding in the scraps. I tumbled the mix every day and in a matter of days, it turns into “pellets” that look like goat manure. I’m not sure what chemistry happens under full sun and rain, but WOW. It doesn’t smell and I’ve had no problems with bugs. I use the nutrient-rich compost mix in my small urban garden (containers). Now, the assembly. It is time-consuming. It took my teenage son about 2 hours with little assistance. Once properly assembled (make sure ALL screws are in!) it is sturdy and takes in lots of scraps. It becomes somewhat heavy as it gets more stuff in, and when tumbling, it’s perfect for upper body and arm exersize!I love the dual chamber feature. I am doing the recommended one side collecting leaves to dry out (and become base for next composting cycle) and the other to collect the vegetable scraps.I’m pleased with the results and think it’s worth the money!

  22. No More Fruit Flies. This counter-top “garbage bowl” is perfect for collecting vegetable and fruit scraps. It’s super easy to clean. And the best part is no more fruit flies — in my warm and humid climate, where fruit flies are abundant! If fruit fly eggs start to appear, then I just spritz the bottom and top of the container with a fruit fly spray (Zevo brand) and that does the trick. The box of liners are a perfect match for it — large enough to tie up with a double knot after the container is full, and they keep my regular kitchen trash container from getting super messy before collection day. (I do wrap meat scraps separately in old paper towels though before discarding, so that my larger weekly trash bin won’t stink.)

  23. PERFECT FOR COLLECTING MY COMPOST. I cannot rave enough about this compost bin!!! It doesn’t stink up the house. Is easy to clean after using. Looks good sitting on my counter, so it is handy to use. Would also work well under the sink, if you didn’t have room on your counter.

  24. Nice fit and easy cleanup. The media could not be loaded.  The two way lid makes tossing compostables easy. It was easy to install on the side of our kitchen counter and is out of the way and in a convenient spot for use. Perfect size for day to day use. It comes with a roll of compost bags. Easy lid removal for replacing bags and so far no smells have come through when food waste sits for a day.

  25. Perfect for composting. This item I love because I will be able to make great food for my gardens. This concept is great as it allows for keeping the compost mixed well. You have to put this together and that is somewhat of a challenge. The item looks smaller than it actually is. It is pretty large, but I am happy with it. It’s a little bit of a challenge to put together, they provide a screwdriver as a tool, but I used a powered screwdriver and it helped aid in the putting together of the item.

  26. Perfect Compost Bin for Everyday Use. I love the OXO Good Grips Composter! It’s so easy to open, even when my hands are full, which is super convenient when cooking. Cleaning is a breeze thanks to the smooth interior, and I haven’t had any issues with lingering smells. It contains odors really well, even when left for a few days. The design is sleek and compact, fitting perfectly on my kitchen counter without being an eyesore. Overall, it’s a well-made, functional compost bin that makes kitchen composting effortless. Highly recommend!

  27. Good product. This was a little bit of a challenge to put together. Make sure you read the directions before starting as I put the whole thing together before realizing I needed to start at a different location. Once together works great. Turns well and easily. Seals could be a little tighter.

  29. Great looking, functional compost bucket. We’ve been using this for about 6 months. No sign of rust. It has held up well. I do use compostable bag liners inside to keep it cleaner and for ease of dumping the compost scraps. This Bucket looks so much better than the plastic bin we were using. The charcoal filter is washable and aids with any odors which might develop.

  30. Easy assembly. This was easy to assemble and it seems to be good quality so far. The composting capacity is fine for a homesteading family on a small scale which is what we are. It’s easy to move when empty so you could assemble it then pick it up and move it wherever you need to before filling it. The 2 chambers is nice to have. Just take note the divider doesn’t line up perfectly inside the center groove. It seems like it will stay in place but that part of the assembly is a little off.

  31. Perfect for Kitchen Compost Bins. This is my review of the T.FORING 100% Compostable Trash Bags 1.2 Gallon. These soft (size small) 100% compostable bags fit perfectly in my tall, stainless-steel, kitchen compost pail. Even if you keep your kitchen scraps in there for a few days, they hold up well (I keep mine for at least 4 days). I should note that I only put fruit and vegetable scraps, no fish, meat, bones, or sauces/condiments of any kind (I prefer not to send that to the green waste but I’m sure you could put that in these bags too). They are a good size with enough left over room on the top to fold over the lip of the bin, and to tie it up when it’s full. The bags of course are biodegradable, there are 80 in a very small compact box that has a practical opening at the top for easy, pull through access. Really like them!I received this item at no cost for being a Vine member and this is my unbiased review.

  32. Perfect counter top bin. Perfect size for daily scraps. Nicely ergonomically designed piece with easy to clean surface. I put it in top shelf of dishwasher and it’s perfect.

  33. Awesome product. This is exactly as expected. It’s sturdy and has good composting speed. Easy to use. Good value.

  34. Attractive and efficient. Material and design—I prefer stainless steel to enamel; smooth surface with no grooves—easy to clean and rinse. Tight lid; no odors. Great price/value.

  35. Holds up well. A little big for the ceramic jar I have but that is fine. Garbage I place in bag stays in bag and the bag is easily removed and tied to go in the trash. It it’s important to me that these bags will compost.

  36. Glad to have this tumbler. Needed to find a more accessible compost bin. Our large compost bin will still be used for yard waste, etc but it’s too hard to turn the materials deep down. Have been interested in compost tumblers that meet these criteria: made in America or Canada, tough enough for northern winters, discourages wildlife access, large enough to heat up the materials to form compost, easy to fill and empty, not too heavy for a senior to move. This composter is Canadian which I trust much more than a Chinese built unit. Canadians know winter and this composter appears solid.First, ignore the reviews stating this compost tumbler is difficult to put together. 68+ lady here, and it’s not hard at all. Just takes time. As others suggest, watch a few videos on the assembly and you are good to go. I used a Phillips screwdriver, pliers. The assembly took about an hour but I took my time. Hint: if you assemble this indoors as I did, use the box to cover your floor/carpet. The support stand width is about 28″ across at the bottom, not 24″. Be careful to assemble the stand pieces correctly. There are two longer bolts…set these aside as they are for securing the main bar to the stand, one on each end.The black plastic tube covering the main steel bar comes in one piece, not two as shown in some assembly videos. After placing the two end pieces with the separator in-between onto the bar (they flop all over and slide during this step), secure the bar onto the stand with the two longest bolts. Then you are ready to place and attach the panels, one at a time, securing each panel as you go. The company provided a few extra bolts and nuts which is appreciated. Be sure to watch a couple videos as you need to have the end panels with the vents exactly the same, ie be sure the vents are in line. If the vents are not lined up the same, panels assembly will not work. Each panel fits only one way and snaps into place, but you must bolt them into place securely. They snap into place as an assistance with assembly. Be careful to tighten the bolts snug but don’t over tighten as you may crack the panel.Panels are secured with the included nuts and bolts. Fit the separation panel into the slots built into the panels as you go. This takes a little work but I did fine even with arthritic hands. One big plus is the large sliding cover. It slides either way and can easily be taken off for access to the interior. This is much better than two separate small covers. Plenty of room to dump a pail of vegetable waste without spillage.Seems like a well built composter. The plastic is heavy duty, thick. More manageable than the giant bin we’ve used for decades. We don’t have bears in our area, just the regular curious wildlife. Likely, the critters won’t be interested in the composter. Even if they are, it will take work to chew it or open it.We are looking forward to years of composting with this tumbler.

  38. Sturdy and love the lid. The choice of colors, fits in with the countertop. Love the lid feature, can hang on the side if I need to add multiple scraps. Also like the way rim holds the biodegradable bags in place.

  39. Perfect size. Love this little composter bucket. It never stinks, it is easy to clean and I use compostable plastic bags to line it. Looks great on the counter. It is sturdy and light.

  40. Great product. I love these bags for my small countertop compost bin. They work perfectly.

  41. Just The Right Size For A Solo Kitchen. Small but sturdy. Check the dimensions closely because it is small. Counter top perfect for a small kitchen with the occasional cooking activity. Incan usually fill the bags up in about 3 days or so depending on how much I cook. you can place it on the counter or hang it by the bottom pan door. It has a handle but I have not used it as its hangs easily with the attached plastic hanging clip. Great for small kitchens, though I recommend a larger one if you cook for a family or prep more than for 1 person. Keeps smells to a minimum since the lid fits snugly. The bag gets held in place with a plastic retainer the size and shape of the container.

  42. Love this good quality food scrap can. Use it everyday. The nicely weighted stainless steel and modern design makes it look good sitting on the counter and it also fits well under the sink. Lid has charcoal filter inserts which can be used for quite a long time and are easily replaced. Strong handle makes it easy to carry over to my food preparation area, which may end up being in different places in the kitchen depending on what I’m making. I do place 3 gallon compostable food scrap bags inside simply because it’s easier for me to remove and tie and throw them into my organic recycle bin when full. I put a folded paper towel at the bottom before I put the new food scrap bag in, and at least rinse the can out and dry before putting a new bag in mainly because I don’t fill it up except every couple of days and some condensation from the bags can result. Takes only a minute. But using a bag is not necessary at all if you want to just dump the contents into the trashcan directly or compost pile if you have one, because the can is easily washable like any stainless steel pot or bowl. Lid is very tight so no smells are released plus never have had any unwanted creatures finding their way into it. Ordered a different brand/type originally that rusted. This one still looks brand new and it is one of my most-used kitchen accessories. Thank you!

  43. Works well, would recommend. I like this compost pail. It’s sturdy, easy to clean, and the lid fits well and has two filters. I use compostable bags with it to keep it cleaner than just putting the scraps directly in it. I have not noticed any smells at all. I’m happy with this purchase, it replaced an old plastic compost container I had that was well past it’s useful life. I would recommend this, it’s good!

  45. Kitchen compost canister. This is an attractive and roomy canister to hold vegetative waste. It has a filter and a replacement filter to avoid bad odors. It is a light metal canister that makes it easy to hold peels, etc. until ready to be added to the compost pile.

  46. Large capacity. I love the large capacity and functionality of this. Lid fits well but not tight so you can lift it with one hand, as usually the other is holding kitchen scraps. Charcoal filter in lid holds any smells. Attractive and sturdy stainless steel making it very easy to clean. Unobtrusive for a container that holds your baby compost materials.

  47. Truly keeps the odor from coming through. My husband did not want me to get this. He was concerned that it would not keep the odors in. However, being winter in New England, I still wanted to be able to compost yet did not want to have to go out to the backyard (we keep our compost bin far away) that frequently. I won and we gave it a try😊.It works great! Between how snugly the cover hits and the carbon filter it comes with not odors come out. The size is perfect for us – I went **weeks** without having to empty it. I was a nice surprise that it came with 30 liners!I have it hanging off the side of our stainless steel duel trash bin we keep in the kitchen. I love that there are two ways to open the bin. Flip up for a quick toss in; pull down when I need to push in lots of scraps from my cutting board. This makes composting so easy – no excuses anymore. The only problem is you will be trying to find even more things to compost. Luckily Alexia has all the answers. For the record – dryer lint works if it is from natural fibers, as does finger nails. Do not compost baked goods, meat, fish, or dairy.Enjoy stepping up for composting!!
