1. Not Ready For Prime Time. Update 4/30/18 – I want to start off with, Orbit did reach out and sent me another unit (thank you!!). I attempted to connect it again was unable to initially. I emailed Orbit tech support and they told me to push the button on each of the units 6 times to reset it to connect via bluetooth – I guessed it would have been more of a push an hold type but it did reset it. The hub connected easy enough to wifi but the hose connector didn’t connect to hub initially. I spent about an hour fiddling with it so it could connect via bluetooth to the wireless hub (I don’t understand that)? It eventually connected to the hub and I thought I was all good. I hooked it up to my hose, setup the watering program and gave it a try. When trying to manually run it for 10 minutes – it would run but no where in the app does it say how to shut it off? I would have liked a simple on and off/green light/red light type of interface in the app. Last night, I was eager to see the unit go off at the time I set it up. It didn’t go off at the time I set. I waited about 5 minutes after the time it was supposed to go off and it still didn’t work. All the app said is that it would water tomorrow per the program I setup. Umm… why didn’t it go off, smart watering wasn’t enabled, just no information.As a person who is in IT and have setup a variety of smart home devices both simple and a bit more complex this product is still not ready. I would advise Orbit to look at products like the Belkin Wemo, Smartthings, Nest, Ring etc… They are not perfect products but they have a relatively simple setup and they are easy to manage. This faucet timer’s app is confusing and not intuitive – I would encourage a UI designer to take a look and work to simplify basic functions and make setup easier. I was looking for an easy on and off, set a schedule and perhaps have it ask me if it needs to water if it is raining – something easy like that type of UI experience. Orbit, if you need some input on the product or to rework it I would be happy to help. I was very excited about this product and hope it becomes a well baked solution soon. I love the idea of automating my drip system, saving water etc…Was very excited to receive this product after its announcement at CES. We recently installed our garden boxes and a Rainbird drip system. The final piece was installing this cool smart watering faucet timer. For the record – I installed the app on my iPhone 8, running the latest version of IOS. I also have a wireless mesh network with ample Wi-Fi available outside. I followed the quick start guide and tried to install both the Wi-Fi hub and timer with the help of the app. When I got done the timer would only connect via Bluetooth. Uh… I need it connected to the internet for all the fancy weather stuff to work. I started over to see if I had made a mistake. After trying to start over, resetting the whole system, trying the install from scratch and even trying it with a new account, the whole thing just wouldnt work. I find the app to be pretty bad. You are asked to select what you want to install. Then it uses Bluetooth to connect – the first time it sort of worked but then you have to do the install twice to get the timer to work – then only the Bluetooth worked on the timer. Really confusing…. my impression is this product is not well baked yet. Was hoping for a simple install like many smart home devices I have. This just doesn’t work. :/ I’m returning it for a manual watering timer unfortunately.

I have 3 now (one purchased with this hub and 2 additional 21005 units). The majority of the negative reviews are due to frustrations working with the poorly designed app from Orbit. The documentation is not very clear either, so hopefully the following explains how it works.The Orbit B-hyve smart device app is used to control multiple devices. You can purchase this item which includes a WiFi hub, the model without that is Bluetooth only (but which can be upgraded to use WiFi with this included hub), another timer that will control other Orbit B-hyve products, etc. While using the same app for multiple devices in theory shouldn’t be an issue, in this case it can be confusing because some options are not relevant for the product you may have purchased, but are still visible even if you don’t want to or can’t use the feature.Things to note:Each device is separate from the other. You control and schedule them separately.Programs – This is where you “program” the faucet timers. You can create multiple sets of schedules for each device. You can have a device come on each day of the week (you can select the days individually), at an interval (every 1, 2, 3 etc days), even or odd days. You can specify multiple start times throughout the day (come on at 8am, 12pm, 3pm). You will pick the default zone and select for how long the faucet will remain open for the days/times you picked. You can also specify a watering budget (which admittedly i have no clue what that does because i couldn’t find documentation on it, it may not even be relevant to this device…so i left it alone at 100%)Zones – Although completely irrelevant and not meaningful for these devices, a Zone is the area that the device will water. They each only control 1 zone, but despite that possibly obvious fact, you still have to select that 1 zone when setting up the schedule. 6. Update – 2023 B Hyve Smart Hose Timer turns Dumb. Orbit has done lot of work on their app and addressed many problems. My system is now working fine. I have a large yard and low water pressure so I have 15 hose end timers on two hubs. They were all stable last summer and worked as they should. Also, they all made it through the last power outage and reconnected to the wifi as soon as the power was turned back on.Hose End Faucet Timer using WiFiUpdate – May 15, 2022It has now been close to six weeks since my review and things are going from bad to worse. The App is buggy and with each update (many in the last 6 weeks) things get worse. Last night I “turned off” a timed program using the “On/Off” button in the App and sure enough the water came on this morning. Had to run out and turn off the faucet since the App indicated it was not scheduled to run.So many updates in the past 6 weeks with little to no progress. They somehow managed to change the colors of the buttons!, but that does little when the settings are ignored by their server. I have already done a complete reset of one timer and now I will try that with this second errant timer. They need new coders but more importantly they need real time field testing to see what actually happens.And I think part of the problem is trying to run two totally different systems within one App. There is the “sprinkler” system timer that waters zones in your yard, and the individual faucet timer, each of which is a separate zone. The two do not play well together.And still no response from Orbit.Original Review – April 6, 2022I have used the B-hyve Smart Hose Timer (15 in total) since 2020 and found it to be a reliable product until the company started doing software “updates” a few months ago. I can only say it is a mess. The first hint was when “Notifications” stopped coming. Unless I go through the entire list, one by one I can’t tell if the watering was done. And even going through the list I found some devices that while they did water, were not recorded has having watered. I am now having to visually inspect my whole yard to make sure the plants are watered – the Smart Hose Timer has now turned “DUMB”.I tried to provide feedback to Orbit, but even that is difficult.Definitely not recommended at this time

7. Better than B-HYVE by a long shot. This product is extremely easy and amazing to use!I tried the B-hyve system and it was total garbage. I am a very tech savvy young man and still was having difficulty even getting it to connect to all its components. It had bugs all throughout its software that drove me absolutely nuts AND the app cost me $10 that I was never refunded.. too nuanced and wouldn’t work. Had to delete the app from my phone and reinstall the entire system to even get it to barely work. Most of the time it wouldn’t even see my WiFi.So I went with my gut instinct and found something that looked like the people that made it actually care. That’s when I found this gem!The app is by far the best user experience I could ask for and I am a UX designer. And it’s free! Doesn’t have a weird Pro version for something I’ve already paid for. It took me 5min to set up the app after initially plugging in the Bluetooth to WiFi hub and installing the smart water controller onto the faucet with the plumbers tape that was included.It’s very responsive and the notifications are nice to have so you can tell if it’s on or not without visiting the app. If I start it manually from the app, it has about a .5 second delay from the moment I push start until the moment it starts.It also has a smart system that will cancel your daily schedule if it rains or will rain that day. So, drought no-more!It was pretty easy to get my wife added to the app account so that she and I can manage the same system from anywhere and see when either of use run the water so that we don’t accidentally do it more than we should.Overall if fits perfectly in the not too much or not enough category. It feel like they really tired not to overwhelm the user and deliver a great product!Thank you and hope this helps with your search to not kill us all by over watering your yard 😘

I previously had been using manual timers but none allowed me to water on “Even Days” only and used the Melnor RainCloud, however, after a couple of seasons the units stopped working. I did some research and found LinkTap…while a little pricy it not only works better than expected it also provides more information. I am currently using on two areas of my home which operate on separate spigots. I only need one main unit and then a couple of the G2S Wireless Water Timers. The main unit quickly connected to my internet and the Water Times quickly connected to the Gateway. The initial setup was simple.I moved the units outside to the spigots and was pleased to see that the Wireless Water Timers were able to connect even though the Gateway was inside and a decent distance from the units. I then scheduled the timers through the Web App instead of the Phone App as it was easier to view. In the several weeks I have been using the LinkTap it has twice skipped the watering because of expected weather…sadly neither time did the rain hit my area and I ended up manually watering. I like that the App tells me the gallons / minute not only in real time but also shows how much water has been used.So far, this is a great system for anyone that does not have inground sprinklers. Highly recommend.UPDATE June 2024:I have the LinkTap G2S wireless timer for approximately two years and they have worked flawlessly. At the end of the season I’ve been removing the devices and storing indoors to prevent freezing. This year, one of the G2S devices refused to shutoff…I disassemble according to the online instructions and it worked twice before again remaining on. I did get the online notification and manually turned the device off.I contacted customer service and within two days a new G2S was at my due and now it’s working perfectly. I couldn’t be more pleased with the response and their standing by their product.I tell everyone I know that is interested that this is a great product and fully recommend.

I needed something for my SO’s garden since we were going on vacation and she wanted something left alive when we got back 🙂 🙂 I spent two weeks surfing reviews and basically came to the conclusion that the overwhelming majority of timers out there are absolute overpriced garbage. Just cheap, barely up to the level of throwaway, crap from China.Then I stumbled across the LinkTap stuff. Yes its more expensive – up front. $140 for one faucet. But its very obvious that this product is actually built to last more then one season. You WILL NOT find anything else with even close to equivalent functionality and quality for this price. Anything else will start at $50-60 and MAYBE last one season. We’re in a high desert (6K ft) so while the heat isn’t overwhelming (high 90’s at most), the sun (UV) is brutal! Cheap plastic crap from China has a amazingly short lifespan!The app is clunky but functional. Which is fine. I want a functional product! I don’t care if the app isn’t a work of art. Read their directions because some things are not obvious. Also, this product will do A LOT. Also, not all of which is obvious.The web site is less clunky and still perfectly functional. The web site is NOT housed on the hub so you can control your watering remotely anywhere you have internet access.NOTE: remote access ONLY works if your hub has internet access! If the hubs internet connection goes belly up, you are SOL. This only affects YOU ACCESSING the hub and doing stuff. Whatever preexisting settings continue on as they are irrespective of whether the hub has internet access or not.The hub uses Zigbee – yea, stop jumping up and down. It is ONLY used to interface with their devices. NO. It will not integrate with a Zigbee hub! Control is only through their app or their web site.There are a bunch of things I REALLY like about this setup, but I’m not going to go through all of them.#1 on my list is being able to see water flow: whether there is any and how much. We use dripper hoses which only flow about 2gph. Not nearly what an open faucet would flow so its easy to see if someone disconnected a hose. It also reassures my paranoid SO that water ACTUALLY IS flowing. :)#2 email alerts for several things like too much flow, no flow. Not much interest if you’re at home, maybe, but I’m not down with blowing through 5000 gallons of water because we were gone for a week and the lawn guys ran over a hose with the mower.#3 hub based with remote devices. The app/web site doesn’t talk directly to the devices. Which is very good for us since we have a weird shaped house. Wireless connectivity at the faucet is shaky at best. Bluetooth connectivity would be non existent. I located the hub in my office about in the middle of the house where I can supply it with uninterruptible power and internet and it gets 80% connectivity to the faucet which means it work perfectly 100% of the time.#4 it is SUPER EASY to hook this to a POE (power over Ethernet) adapter and only have one wire running to my POE Ethernet switch supplying both internet and power (off my UPS). No wall wart! Another plus to this is it makes things considerably easier if you don’t have a power outlet where you want to put the hub. :)#5 this setup is crazy expandable! Unfortunately, I already have a perfectly functional sprinkler system so a hub and one faucet is all I’ll probably ever need. But if I were putting in a new sprinkler system, I’d seriously consider this on a larger scale.I strongly suggest looking at their web site and going though their docs. 13. Follow up – amazing support. I recently contacted Support to see what was going on with the wifi controller. They sent me a timely response with clear instructions. I followed them carefully but could not get the controller to work. In the meantime support would email me for follow up. They have an incredible support staff. They recognized the controller would need to be replaced and have prepared to ship another out to me. I am impressed by Rainpoint’s support network!The RainPoint Bluetooth Smart Irrigation Timer+ Bluetooth gateway was delivered as expected. The instructions were very well written as I followed them almost to the T. My setup time was no more than 20 min and that was with the suggested system software upgrades to both the Timer and Gateway. Once connected, the phone app is fairly intuitive. I immediately tested the manual setting and watched the timer on the phone count down and then I set up the time for what days of the week I wanted watering and for how long. The timer today went off as expected for the amount of time I set up on the app. So far this product works for me. I like that you can review your watering history in the app. Nice feature.. great for when you are away from home and need to possibly change your water frequency but didn’t remember what you had it set on. There is a rain delay function as well. All of this is displayed on the app. including the current weather forecast! There is one item that would be nice to change and that is the reddish/pink light on the gateway. I was a bit confused in the beginning thinking I didn’t have it connected correctly due to the color. It would be nice to have it a low luminous green (thinking I am good to go). Also the gateway needs to be within 100 ft (if I remember right) … plugged indoors. This does not affect me as my timer is approx 30-40 feet away from the gateway. Also, it looks like it can be connected to Alexa… I only gave that a few min of my time as I know some apps take a blessing from higher ups to get to work with Alexa and I did not have the time at the moment to do it. The other interesting feature which I would want to find out more is that you can add additional devices. I am not sure if this means you can add more timers/gateways and use one app to control all of them. Which means you can build a somewhat sophisticated watering system. I failed to mention the construction of the devices. They look very well made. If you register your product, you can get up to 5 years of warranty coverage.

14. Great device for automated watering of container plants. Definite time (and plant) saver. I’m admittedly easily distracted by almost, well everything. Last year, my plants went from seedlings to amazingly beautiful containers of the fullest annuals I have ever planted. Neighbors even stopped by to compliment. That is, until I had forgotten to water them for a couple of days in the heat of summer. I was able to save them, but after the drought they never returned anywhere near the fullness of before.Besides my forgetfulness, there is the issue of having to drag the hose across the yard, spraying down the plants while trying to navigate the hose around different shrubs, trees plants, landscape lights , etc. and trying to stay dry myself. This year, I installed a drip navigation system powered by the Orbit b-hyve. Installation of the b-hyve took a couple tries. I felt the instructions could have been a little clearer, especially pertaining to installing the wi-fi hub but overall I got it sorted out easy enough. The main thing, is that it’s been working very well. The timer activates as expected, and is smart enough to skip waterings when rain is active or has occurred recently. It’s just so much more convenient not having to drag that hose around anymore. Eventually, I’d like to get additional b-hyve faucet timers to automate the watering in some other areas of the yard. Overall, really happy with it.

16. UPDATE – Battery Compartment Engineered Poorly and failure after a few months. Sorry I’ve had to update this review to say I can’t recommend it anymore. The removal of the batteries is near impossible as it will get stuck. There is no easy pry point and the two flared plastic pieces will break when you use any kind of plier on them. In addition one of my 4 has already failed on me in less than a few months of usage. I will be switching to Rachio————I have a lot of smart home devices, but really needed this and I was glad it existed. I live in Vegas and needed to deep soak some new tree’s that were purchased. It was a pain turning on the hose and remembering when to turn it off. This solved the issue, I can simply just move the hose from tree to tree, and set the timer. When I go out, I move the hose to the next tree at my leisure without worry of forgetting to turn it off. Brilliant!As far as the setup goes, it was very easy. My wifi strength is better than most outside though, but I don’t think it’s a weak connection that can’t grab from indoors. The app is refined and works perfectly, and I’m able to do what I need to without digging for the feature. Everything else is in there for scheduling, rain delay, looks complete for anything you might need it to do.I didn’t integrate it with my Hubitat, Home Assistant, or SmartThings hubs but I could see that it was offered. For my purpose, I just use it with a hose. I have a Rachio for all other irrigation.I’ve used it for about a month now, 5 or 6 days a week, and only needed to replace the stock battery with some good AA’s once. I suspect the batteries I have in there now will last even longer.I highly recommend, love this little smart device.

17. Horrible, I own multiples of these and they all break at some point. I first will say I own their B-Hyve 6 zone timer and love it. It waters my yard and I have no problems (other than when they broke it with software updates but have since been resolved).After thoroughly enjoying the multi zone timer, I was looking to water other parts of my house (plants in pots, separate planter beds, etc.) by utilizing my hose spigots around my house. When I found these timers I was super happy. That’s the last bit of happiness I had is when I purchased them. When I say nothing but problems, I literally mean it. Not one has just worked without an enormous amount of work on my part. I’m an IT/Smart Home Installer, this is my job playing with smart devices. I can tell you head others people’s warnings in the 1 star reviews, these are horrible. Yeah, you’ll get it setup eventually, it’s not going to last. You’ll notice plants are starting to get dry, you’ll check the battery level, hmm 40% and you just put fresh batteries in that’s odd. They will lose connection with the hub constantly, you’ll have to reset device connection in the app. Did that fix it great, wait, hold on it’s only showing a bluetooth connection now. I hope you get the idea, when they stay connected, which is rare, it’ll work. You’ll manually start them and the app which is total hot garbage because their programmers keep adding cool features like shop because who doesn’t want to shop for more devices while they’re watering their grass am I right? Back to the point, you’ll manually start watering and it will tell you it timed out after 30 secs but wait, it’s watering currently. You’ll have to force close the app and go back in, go to the device, “start” a manual watering cycle and hey, it’s now showing you how much you have left on the watering cycle even though it told you it failed to connect.I’ve done this too many times to count, reset, set it up again, yeah it works, and then it doesn’t.I have 3 hubs on my property to try to alleviate the issues, one literally 1.5′ inside a window from where I had 3 of these timers. All 3 wouldn’t work, not a one. I swapped hubs, updated networks, etc, nothing stayed working longer than a day or two, sometimes moments after you set it up did it just not work. So I gave up and tried another brand Rain Point. I’m impressed, not only did they set up immediately but guess what? 3 weeks and counting and I can use each and every one of them without issue. Installed exactly where the 3 of these timers were installed and their hub is sitting exactly in the same outlet and still working.It’s been a massive waste of money with these and I’m sorry I ever found them because their integration into the B-Hyve App is horrendous vs. the multi-zone systems. I manage 4 households that utilize the multi-zone systems and zero problems. I don’t update the app anymore as their programmers are horrible. I’ve emailed them and they’re useless, I even offered to beta test the software for them as it kept getting worse by the update.Stay away from these and go with another brand. Read the reviews, don’t pick the glowing ones because I can tell you from real world experience, someone is lying and it isn’t those of us that have the same issues repeatedly. Go look at the b-hyve app reviews and you’ll see these issues also brought up.

The Wi-Fi Hub is essential to the performance of the 4-Port Timer. I placed the Hub between my two timers and poof, my connection issues went away. 5-stars for the Wi-Fi Hub. However, I took one star from this combo set because of the difficult of some aspects of programming the Timer. My issue is this: I have one Timer using “advanced programs”. Telling them to have a 1, 2, etc. day watering delay results in a logical delay. The other Timer is using a “basic program”. When I tell it to have a 1, 2, etc. day watering delay the results make no sense. It is not logical. The program may not set the delay at all or the program may jump out a week. I have yet to figure it out and I am a computer engineer.Summary: Use the Wi-Fi Hub. Use the advanced program setting on the Timer. The results are excellent. I recommend.

21. Life changing. Set up 2 water timers with one hub and was pretty easy to program everything. We have thick log walls so finding the right spot for both timers took a bit. Had issues losing the WiFi the first couple days for some reason but no real issues after a week’s use on 2 timer units. My feet are badly disabled after an accident, running back and forth to test, lines, sticking valves, did a timer come on correctly, no more running outside at 11 pm to hit rain delay etc. The pop up notifications and the saving my feet- it is truly life saving for me. I cannot recommend this product enough. I even figured out, finally, how to program one valve to come on two times/day. The program walks you through step by step on the app. 5 Stars is not enough for this product!

22. It’s a good remote-control sprinkler. We needed a remote-control solution to keep plants watered when away and chose this 2-port smart sprinkler after reviewing other similar products.It requires a small gateway (included) to make a connection with your home WiFi network. The gateway must be plugged into a wall electrical outlet that is in range of both WiFi access and sprinkler access. My gateway is located about 10 feet from the sprinker with two walls in between, and the connection seems strong. Four AA batteries are needed for the sprinker (not included).Setup had to be repeated more than a couple of times with the iPhone app before everything worked. We connected water hoses and sprinklers to each water flow port and confirmed each port could be individually controlled using WiFi or cell phone network connections. Everything worked well. It takes at least 5 seconds after startup for the app to connect to the sprinkler, which is good enough. Thinking about buying another one.

23. Easy installation, nice features. If you’re familiar with smart devices, install is a breeze. If not, the directions seemed good enough after a quick read.Key install points:1. Download the Smart Life app on your device2. Plug in the wall unit (green light should start slow flashing) and make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device3. Make sure you’re on the same Wi-Fi (2.4GHz) network to which you want to connect the device4. Add a new device in Smart Life – it should guide you through the process with a series of clicks5. Make sure both the base unit and the water valve get installed6. It should automatically get added to your Smart home system (at least, it did for me with Alexa).That aside, the features all work as expected.The only issue I have encountered is that the smart valve did not provide enough pressure to use my drip irrigation with my rain barrel (only about .6psi, about a foot and half off the ground – works fine manually). So instead, I have a splitter connecting my drip irrigation to both the house bibb (where the smart valve is installed) and the rain barrel (for manual use when I’m at home).My favorite part is the app UI shows the recent weather as well as a forecast so you can adjust your watering schedule as needed.I’ve only had it installed for a day, but we’re taking a trip soon so I’ll be updating with my experience using this system remotely. Hoping it keeps my veggie garden thriving!Update 17 September 2024: this thing has been fantastic. It kept my veggies alive during a couple weeks away. I’ve since used it frequently to water early in the morning on especially hot days. I really can’t overemphasize how nice it is to see the forecast in the scheduling app. Makes adjustments a breeze.

27. Nice Timer that works well but setup was a little difficult. I currently have 4 yellow RAINPOINT Wi-Fi Sprinkler Smart Water Timers installed on drip irrigation systems around my home. I recently received the new Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Smart water timer. The new timer is more compact and has a brass inlet which is a big improvement from the old plastic inlet which could easily be stripped or broken. The hub is much smaller and only about 1 3/4″ x 2 1/4″. The yellow version uses 4 AA batteries. The new version uses 3 AAA batteries. The location of the batteries on the new unit are in the front of the timer which is more convenient. Time will tell if the 3 AAA batteries last as long as the old units 4 AA batteries.I already had the app installed so all I needed to do was update to the new version. Setup was a bit of an issue. The instructions are very basic so they were easy to follow. Unfortunately I kept getting a message to turn on my phones Bluetooth which was already on. After multiple attempts I noticed a small statement on the screen that could be clicked. I clicked on that and I was asked to allow the device to use my Bluetooth. I agreed and the Installation proceeded without any additional issues. There was no mention at all in the instructions about this settings function which will be a problem for some users as it is not very visible. Programming the device in the App is simple with the ability to choose days of the week to water and program multiple watering times per day. 28. Nice Timer that works well but setup was a little difficult. I currently have 4 yellow RAINPOINT Wi-Fi Sprinkler Smart Water Timers installed on drip irrigation systems around my home. I recently received the new Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Smart water timer. The new timer is more compact and has a brass inlet which is a big improvement from the old plastic inlet which could easily be stripped or broken. The hub is much smaller and only about 1 3/4″ x 2 1/4″. The yellow version uses 4 AA batteries. The new version uses 3 AAA batteries. The location of the batteries on the new unit are in the front of the timer which is more convenient. Time will tell if the 3 AAA batteries last as long as the old units 4 AA batteries.I already had the app installed so all I needed to do was update to the new version. Setup was a bit of an issue. The instructions are very basic so they were easy to follow. Unfortunately I kept getting a message to turn on my phones Bluetooth which was already on. After multiple attempts I noticed a small statement on the screen that could be clicked. I clicked on that and I was asked to allow the device to use my Bluetooth. I agreed and the Installation proceeded without any additional issues. There was no mention at all in the instructions about this settings function which will be a problem for some users as it is not very visible. Programming the device in the App is simple with the ability to choose days of the week to water and program multiple watering times per day. So far the unit seems to be working well and I am happy with the timer. I also want to add that Rainpoint is very responsive when contacted. I had one of my yellow timers malfunction. At this point I have two of the Orbit 24634 B-hyve XD 4-Port Smart Hose Watering Timers and one of the Orbit 21027 B-hyve Gen 2 Wi-Fi Hubs.I only recommend this if you plan to use your phone (I have an iPhone) to control things. It can be hand programmed, but I would not suggest doing it that way except to initially set the clock (that must be done at the unit).A good place to understand how to set things up and see how it functions can be found here on YouTube. Unfortunately, links are not allowed, but try googling “Orbit B-Hyve XD Smart WiFi Water (Hose) Timer – Unboxing, Configuring, and Review”You do not need to buy the hub to control the watering timers. They will work fine with Bluetooth. However, Bluetooth has a limited range. If you want to be able to control the watering timers wherever your local WIFI network exists or even remotely when you are on WIFI (like on vacation) you will want the Gen 2 hub – you only need one. It was nice getting watering notices when I was recently out of town.The hub should be located where it can reach all your water timers with Bluetooth (I would say 10-20 feet – 10 ft if you are going thru brick façade, etc.). It only works at 2.4 GHz.Start with programing each of the Zones (see you tube video above). Since I have two water timers I gave them different names so I can tell which is which. When you have things programmed (I have a program for each Zone on each watering timer) then play with the app. There are a lot of options and the easiest way to figure things out is to try all the options.Store this thing inside where it is warm for the winter (before the first freeze). Getting all the water out is hard and things can freeze in the garage. If it freezes most likely will stop working due to damage.Big plus is the unit seems to be water tight. In particular, the battery pack has an O-ring to seal water out. The water timers run on only 2 AA batteries. The WIFI hub plugs into the wall. If things are powered down, you will need to add them back to your phone app (for example moving the WIFI hub location).I have only had this equipment for about two weeks so I am not sure what happens when you pull the batteries. Hopefully there is static memory so when you put new batteries in you don’t need to reprogram it, but I would suspect it needs to be reconnected to the phone app.

34. 💦DIY Mini Sprinkler System! So easy! ☀️💦🌱🌲. The media could not be loaded. This is super neat to create my own mini diy sprinkler system. I had no issues adding it to the Lumary App or my wifi. I have an electrical outlet cover and I placed the gateway in there. I initially placed the Sprinkler Timer next to it, but for video purposes I moved it about 30 ft away. I didn’t see a problem with connectivity.Like: I can manually turn on and off in the app AND by pressing the black button on the device. I can create schedules to any day or time of the week. ⭐️A plus is the soaking/cycle option too! This is great for my new baby plants that need frequent shallow watering. ⭐️

35. Easy to program. Must water daily. This has a maximum 23:59 schedule for water. You have to water daily. Luckily, my vegetation is water hungry.If you water on weekly schedules, this is not for you. There are others in the same price range that can do that.It is working well so far. I have adjusted the daily water schedule with ease with no problem. Its batteries appear to last six months if the manual is believed. The screen goes blank after a few minutes and saves battery power. We’ll see if they last the six months. Not this year.It has been keeping the schedule so far. I’m giving four stars since it can’t keep weekly schedules.

36. Working great so far. I used my refrigerator water line as a water source for a water trough.I put this on aerobic step platform with a dog microfiber towel underneath. I then connected it with this Alexa enabled garden hose switch which is also operated by a yolink water sensor in case of a leak it will shut off automatically and give me a warning.All in I think I’m about $180 to keep my six dogs from getting thirsty and minimizing the many many gallons of water I get daily to fill their bowls.

If you’re a gardener thinking about setting up a self-watering system, I recommend going for it – I can’t believe how many years I hand-watered and lost plants and how quick the system was to set up!

38. Works great! No issues. This thing works just as it says it would. I use it for areas where I am seeding so I set it to run 5-10 minutes every 1-2 hours. I could do this with the manual devices but had to start it and stop it manually at the beginning and end of each day. With this, I can set it up and let it be. I have it running 10 minutes every 2 hours from 8 am to 8 pm. I never have to worry about it. Others have commented on the app not being great. It is not the most intuitive but I was able to get everything set up in about 20 minutes the first time. Now I know how it works so it is easier. The only issue is the Smart water part of the app. I have it shut off but it still tries to put in rain delays. It uses the forecast from a local radio station (you can change the station) and the settings for when it inserts a rain delay can be adjusted. Even so, it still doesn’t do that part very well. I just do it manually which is easy from the app.

44. Read this before you buy this product. I bought this for my indoor atrium, which we water 3 times per week on Monday, Wed and Friday. This works with Smart Life app, which is good. I assumed that something like a 3 day per week schedule would be easy to set up. Surprise! You can’t. The app that runs inside the Smart Life app is very primitive. Any watering schedule you set up is for every day. There is no way to set up any watering schedule for other than every day. This may not be a big deal for some, but for me, it makes the product useless to me.

45. Pretty good product, amazing customer service. I picked up two of these four port timers to set up irrigation in my backyard for over 40 trees. I live in Arizona so not only is irrigation important, but one day without can do serious damage to a young tree if something happens to the system. For the most part I have been very happy with these timers. I access them most often using the Bluetooth option from just inside my home. I do not have or use the hub, I don’t find it necessary.Here’s where their customer service comes into play. The only issue I’ve had with these timers is that they have occasionally frozen up. The one on my east faucet has frozen four times, the one on my west faucet has frozen once. When I say Frozen I mean stuck on the same screen, the timer is not activating when it’s programmed, I cannot connect to it with my phone via Bluetooth. After the first occurrence of this, which I didn’t notice for 3 days so my new row of fig trees took a major hit, I realized that I would be able to tell it was frozen because I could not connect via Bluetooth. If I slip the batteries out, wait 5 seconds then slip them back in the unit will work fine again for the most part. This was a real drag but it seemed like something I could work with since I have the Bluetooth application.The problem is that with Arizona’s 100° plus temperatures if it freezes up for the day then I have one zone on the east side that really gets hit hard because it’s all young rooted cuttings. While the rest of my yard looks fantastic, that one zone looks like it was just planted because it’s been hit by system freezes four times and keeps being set back. So I reached out to their customer service using the chat option on their website.Orbits customer service was fantastic! (To be clear, I reached out to the manufacturer not to Amazon.) The agent was very friendly and for the most part knew what I was saying. He continued to come back to questions about the app, like that was the cause of the problem, but I believe that’s because they have to ask a bunch of very specific questions before they can honor the warranty. I was on chat with them for about 20 minutes. I did not give them the model number because it was still in use and I didn’t want to take my system apart and read it from the bottom of the unit. This was not an issue. He just asked me to hop on Amazon and send them a screenshot of my purchase 4 months ago. Which was easy enough. I did not ask for a refund. I did not ask for a replacement. I was simply reaching out to them to let them know that there is an issue with their timers. Especially since I never let either of my timers get below 80% battery life. I’m pretty neurotic about that.After a pleasant 20 minute conversation with their customer service I ended the chat with a warranty code for the orbit websites so that I could go on and order two replacement units ( under warranty replacement ) at no charge to myself. No shipping charge, no cheap little hidden charges like that, just 2 valid replacements at no cost.This has been an overall positive experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up their products again. As far as issues go, this is something I can work with if it happens on a new issues as long as I stay on top of checking everyday. Which is a little annoying but not the end of the world. I have otherwise had no issues. They’re constructed well and for the most part function great. Other than that one issue.(I did attach several pictures to show the difference between the zones. All of these were planted in May and they were all rooted cuttings that were about 8 in tall. The first two pictures are of fig bushes on the west side that have not had as many issues. They have multiple canes and stand close to 5ft tall already. The next two pictures of the smaller trees are from the zone that got hit from the timer freezing up. Obviously, they should be much bigger going into this time of year. They stand at about 1.5ft tall currently. But, I didn’t actually lose any and they should make up for lost time next spring.)

I purchased this device to have the ability to add water to my pool, if it detects low water level.Living in Florida during the winter and away from this house in the summer, the pool water evaporates fairly quick during the summer months. 57. Works fine, app a bit shaky though. Every time without fail, the app tells me the device isn’t working when I start it up. So I tap around and the notice goes away and all’s well. First couple of times was a worry then I got used to the false alarm. The unit itself has worked fine through the summer, running two hoses automatically, and I also like being able to control one manually on the fly in the front yard if I need to, without having to walk back and forth to the back yard hose connection. This seems to be a solid and reliable device, I’m happy with it.

62. Works! Recommended. I set this up on my pool fill. Took a little jiggering to set up the PVC, but works great. I can schedule, turn on and off from my phone. Love it!

63. excellent buy. Makes all the smart features of the irrigation that cost thousands of dollars to install at my house available on very inexpensive device. Too bad I can’t hook it up to the sub metered system that by passes the sewer charges like the rest of the irrigation system
